Your baby is growing at 30 weeks 4 days pregnant
In 30 weeks 4 days of pregnancy, your baby has become the size of a cabbage and measures about 15 inches. His vision is continually developing and he will keep his eyes closed for a long time even after being born. He may respond to light but, cannot make out most of the things before him.
The amount of amniotic fluid in your uterus will reduce once your baby takes more space. You might experience fewer movements this week as his house is getting smaller for him. You will see more expansion in your belly as a result.
Lanugo, the soft hair covering his body, will start disappearing from this week. But, you may still find some of the hair remaining on his body after he is born. Your baby’s brain is developing at a faster rate now. There occurs the growth of more brain tissues to cope with the life outside.
It is time for the bone marrow to control the production of red blood cells which was previously done by the tissue groups. This important development helps your baby to take care of himself outside the womb. Your belly will look like an above pregnancy picture.
And your life is changing
All the pregnancy symptoms you had long forgotten like the heartburn, tender breasts etc are coming back to you this week. You may feel the need to urinate frequently as the baby is now putting pressure on the bladder. Your breasts are preparing for milk production which makes them tender.
Be ready for an attack of heartburn and indigestion now. The pregnancy hormones relax the muscles near the stomach pushing the digestive juices and food up your chest. This, together with your pressure exerting baby, can cause real bad burning sensation.
You can consider eating less spicy and fried food items to ease the condition. You can be happy that once the baby comes out, this condition is not going to reappear anymore.
Many of you face breathlessness at this stage. This is due to your expanding uterus choking your diaphragm. When the baby comes down nearing pregnancy, you will find yourself relieved of this discomfort.
Those of you still having the sex drive is allowed to have intercourse unless your doctor has warned not to. You may try positions that don’t hurt your baby and give you a feeling of security.

When encountered with breathlessness, try to sleep in a sitting position for some time with supporting pillows at the back. You may find yourself scratching the belly for umpteenth time in the day. Remember, this only worsens your trouble. Instead apply moisturizer on your belly before going to bed so that you get a sound sleep.
It is a great idea to throw the heels away for these 40 weeks of pregnancy. The growing uterus shifts your center of gravity making you misaligned altogether. Better be safe at this time when you are prone to falls more than ever.
